Weltevrede Farm is the original home of the Veldfire, a unique species of Leucospermum (also known as a pincushion). From August to December these stunning orange flowers are in full bloom. They are picked daily by the 15 full time staff employed by the farm. They are then put directly into water, and from there packed in boxes for direct export. They are then sent to various markets, including Holland, Germany and Switzerland.
The farm also produces smaller quantities of other Leucospermum and Proteas for export, including Sylvia, Goldie, High Gold, Coral and Yellow Bird..
The 15 year old olive groves keep the local market stocked with delicious Black Mission olives, which can be bought directly from the farm from March to May.
